Gallowglass Morning Concert
Saturday, October 7th 10-11am - free, all ages
at Opera French Pastries & Coffee - 1206 Cornwall Ave.
St. Patrick's Day Night 2014. Four musicians had played in various combinations all around the town all throughout the day and night the Irish music they all love. They'd all jammed with each other a bit here and there, but that night in a late after hours affair, they finally all played together, and Gallowglass was born. Zach Bauman on mandolin, guitar, and vocals, Brit Keeton on fiddle, Jan Peters on bouzouki, harmonica, and vocals, and David Lofgren on the traditional Irish frame drum, the bodhran. We found we share a love of the same kinds tunes - the modal and haunting, the peculiarly compelling, as well as certain super sprightly upbeat jigs, reels, and polkas. We play and sing songs we all share an affinity for, and taking great pleasure in making each piece our own. Summer 2016 - Brit Keeton has gone on tour of summer music camps and Margaret Inez Driscoll as join our efforts. Margaret is a championship Scottish/Cape Breton fiddler who, fortunately for us, happens to enjoy playing Irish tunes with us!
